About Us
Ruff House is a home based, family run boarding and daycare for dogs. Owned and operated by Daniel and Chelsey Johnson since 2024, with the help of a part time team. We are open Monday through Friday and offer boarding 7 days a week year-round.
Ruff House began when serendipity and dreams collided. In 2024, the facility where Daniel worked suddenly closed its doors due to rising rent. At the time, Chelsey had just left her job of 15 years, and we were both left, along with many clients, wondering what to do next.
With his years of experience in the industry and her experience in retail management, things fell into place pretty quickly.
We had dreamed of opening a dog business of our own, and we were lucky enough to have the space — our own home — to give the pups and clients we'd built relationships with a safe and familiar place to land.
As time has passed, we've grown our pack through word of mouth and referrals.
Ruff House prioritizes relationships, both with the pups and with the clients. Relationships build a familiarity and routine that benefits the pack and the parents. It builds trust and a sense of security that lets dogs be dogs, to make best friends and feel free to be themselves.
We are fear-free, crate-free and love every pup like they are our own. We have two dogs who have been a big part of the journey to this point and help us run things: Magic the majestic Great Pyrenees and Leera the bossy Aussie.
Going into 2026, our third summer with the business, we aim to add more to the pack and find a new space to expand our dream.
